Problem with rear blinker / light

Hi everyone,

A few days ago the rear right turn signal light (blinker) started behaving strangely.

Symptoms are as follows:

When I turn on the lights, the rear lights work normally, as well as the stop light when I hit the brake. The problem is to be with the blinker.

When I turn on lights and turn right blinker on, it generally does not work, instead, the rear lights and the stop light turned on and off alternately, like a blinker does. When I turn off the lights on switch, blinker work normally (without the lights turned on, the blinker work properly).

Also, when the lights are turned on and I hit the brake while the right blinker is turn on, it do not work. When I release the brake, again, the rear lights and the stop light turned on and off alternately.

Rear left blinker works properly, as light and stop light.

Does anyone had similar problems, or maybe has a solution for this.

Since its difficult to me to explain my problem with words, tomorrow I'll try to upload the video for you.

Thank you.

BR,
Armin

You probably have an earth fault. Usually caused by rust and/or damp. Clean all the connections and bulb holders, and dry everything off. should be ok then

Thanks 4 fast respond.

I will try that.
I have already checked connectors on rear lights, as bulb holders and they seems OK, but i don't know where can I find earth connections.
Can You say me where to start searching?

P.S.
I forget to mention that my car is Fiat Bravo 1.2 SX 1999.

Look for the strip of metal that goes to all the bulbs they have a common earth. what we are talking about here is that power from the inicator bulb is travelling along the circuit into the rear lamp bulb. could be as well that the indicator bulb comes on with the rear lights or stoplights'

i think also there are contacts in the boot lid as well as near the lock in the boot floor

I suppose that I need to take off a plastic cover on boot lid to get this earth contact place which You ment?

Mine is a 2002 model and i dont have these. I am just trying to remember what people have said on these pages about the same problem you are having, It is a common problem on a lot of cars, all the same cause realy. Try a search because this problem has been on quite a few times

Thank a lot.

I will search this forum for solution.
Probably someone had same problem.

Thanks...

Find the earth wire that goes to the light cluster, its a black wire, attach a new wire to it using clamps and the new wire put under any screw that goes on the naked chassis. That way you made a new earth connection and all should be fine.

Thanks for your help.
I have solved this problem.

It is about main connector for backlight.
The first time I've checked connector, seemingly everything was OK.
But yesterday I was checked it on daylight and noticed that the connector is not realized connection with backlight on one place, and I just corrected a small sheet within connector and now everything work fine.

Thanks again for your help.

Armin
