Help No oil at top of engine

The mechanic tells me he's had the camshaft oilspray pipe cleaned but my engine still doesn't always get oil to the top and keeps screaming and stopping. Could the problem be further down, e.g.oil strainer?

probably the oil pump, need to have the head off to see what the damage is, camshaft, valves etc

Thanks, can the oil pump work sometimes and not others? I've also been told to check the "oil strainer"? flush the engine and change oil filter and oil? Does this sound right or should I have the oil pump changed first? (Living on a budget)

First whats the engine size ?
As I know th eoil stainer is on the pump together, and if the pump is malfunctioning the oil light on the dash would light up as there would lack of oil pressure. My bet would be a blockage in the oil system to the engine head.

this has to be on a 1.4, has your mechanic changed the oil and filter? also its best to take the spray bar off and give it a real good clean, the holes are like pin pricks and the smallest ammount of dirt will block it.
