Hey up folks.
My 2001 1.2 sx BRavo has just failed its first MOT :O(

1. Rear registration plate lamp not working
2. Offside front track rod end ball joint has excessive play.
3. Offside rear shock absorber has a serious fluid leak
4. Nearside front wheel bearing has excessive play.
5. Exhaust emission carbon monoxide content

Any adivce would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

the lamp will probably be just a new bulb needed,

for the rest

-new track rod end needed
-new front shock absorbers (will need to do both as just changing one is not reccommended)
-new wheel bearing needed
-with any luck may need some fuel treatment to clean exhaust system out, if not could be looking at cat etc

Kris

depends on whats wrong with the emissions

what was the readings you got because as said maybe a cleaner is needed or it may be the 02 sensor i would do the o2 sensor firstly as its the cheaper option compared to the cat and depending on which car it is you have the cat could be about £100 for most of the bravos

CO emissions

Fast Idle test: 0.587
Second Test: 0.463
max limit: 0.300 = Fail

doesnt seem to be high enough for a cat failure probably just needs a clean through the system

Change the Lambda Sensor, use forte engine treatment and replace the air filter.
