Hi all,

The fan motor (I assume) is very loud in my car when its on speed number one. It is just like a loudish whirring noise.

It sounds like its coming from under the passenger side dash area.

Is this a noise that can be quietened down or are the fan motors generally quite noisy?

Take the fan out - one screw that holds it in place under the passenger dash. Sounds like there is something stuck in there.

If there is nothing stuck in there, is there anything that can be done to make it quieter. It never used to be like that.

Well I took it out, cleaned out some leaves, made sure it all looked ok then put it back in.

Still just as noisy, maybe it is just wearing. Is there anyway to sort of "service" these things as it was quiet when new but now you can just hear it all the time, still smooth, just loud.

You can spray some WD40 or silicone spray on the motor, so the bearings start to glide smooth again, but in general thats it.
