hi i love driving in the snow and ice and its been snowin so my handbreak hase took a batterin and feels lose the cable feels fine its just the lever that wobbles any ideas on how to tighten it up ???

There are 2 bolts underneath the car (13mm I think) that hold the handbrake assembly in place.

May possibly have to temporarily move heat shield to get to them...

Easy 10min job...

HTH.

i think ill leave it till all the snow has cleared cuz i like gettin wet and cold

could be the mounting has rusted and may need welding up. done a lot like that

Hang on....

You have a fiat, its bloody cold and freezing and you have been able to use your handbrake. What's your secret? Apart from a couple of brief spells, mine has been frozen since Sunday! Learned though, its frozen off now rather than on!

I'm finding the HGT good in this weather, heavy, can pull away in higher gears and the engine braking means not too much use of main brakes (as I have no handbrake).

I didn't know about the hand brake freezing issue so I've always used my handbrake since I bought the car and never had an issue. No idea what the secret is, unless this freezing handbrake doesn't affect 100sx Bravos.

or the 1.2 16v 80sx formula i like puttin formula makes it sounds faster than it is lol

Mine hasn't frozen once in the ten winters I've had the car.

How? Why would the snow effect your handbrake? In 11 years of driving mine have never gone funny when its snowed.

It doesn't go funny as such, but as soon as the temperature gets to 0 the handbrake seizes up. Tim is going to give it a good look over once the weather allows (no garage you see). Just a little fiat quirk, you get used to them!

I'm aware of the frozen handbrake issue but with the description of 'batterin' implied something else happened other than it froze.

Either that or I'm looking too deeply into it :)

when it snows i like to keep my car sideways at all times lol (constant yankin on it)

You are a clever chap then aren't you! No wonder you've broken it!

I used to do the same into parking spaces at my old house...it'd be rude not too :)

All it took was a tightening of the bolt directly underneath the handbrake handle.

I also never had a frozen handbrake in 7 years and I'm further north than all of you lol

mine never freezes :) then again i live 2 minutes away from the coast
