Guys my oil level warning light comes on whenever the revs drop in the car. I would start it up and go for a drive, after a while if I stop at lights or in traffic the light comes on. Even if I drop gears while driving and the revs drop below 2000rpm the light will flicker. Any ideas, oil level is spot on. Car is a 2001 1.6 bravo.

Its not an oil level warning light.

The light is an oil Pressure warning light!

Does the car struggle to tick over? I'd go see a garage as oil presure is never a good thing not to have!


I'm not a machanic but it might be the start of injectors going which is a common 1.6 problem

Car is running perfectly(touch wood). I'll get somebody to look at it all the same.

Thanks again Tommy, you'll laugh when you hear this. The light has been flickering on for over a year now, the car is due it's NCT (Irish version of MOT) and that's why I'm getting round to deal with the few probs. I'd say I have over 25k done with the light coming on at low revs. I always taught it was some kind of sensor prob just could'nt figure why it only happened at very low revs. Maybe it is something more serious....

by the sound of it, it could be the oil pressure switch
