sorry for the two posts, they are both different issues so thought it would be easier to create a second post.

now yesterday i thought id start the car in the evening..

it was dark,, so i turned the stalk/road one notch and my sidelights came on....fine

2nd notch and nothing..my headlights didnt come on???

tried full beam and it works fine

and tried the left indicator again this is fine..

what has happened??

check the fuses, its only a 10 fuse so swapped it with others that do work and still nothing..

my friends did this and it turned out to be the stalks, i suggest changing them

...but only after you've checked the fuse.

sometimes a quick spray with contact cleaner on the stalk will do the job.

contact cleaner you say
what do i need to do then??do i need to remove anythign first? tough job?

why does al other notches work if there is an issue with the stalk?

cheers Mark

but is there a reference to a particular fix on that?

also my stalks DO work?

Marko

my full beam, left indicator and parking lights work..however the normal headlights dont...

any idea?

Just because some of the functions work on the stalk doesn't that its not broken. Some parts may be damaged or dirty, clean all the contacts and see if it helps. If its not the fuses or stalks check your wiring and bulbs and all contacts along the way. It may take you a while as it will be a process of elimination.

thansk i didnt knwo how the stalks worked..
i wasnt prepared to pay a full stalk repair when i thought it did partially work.

i need contact cleaner now..i guess i need to use the guide and spray it in there to ensure it works.

if only it didnt get dark so quick!!

Re stalk failure, when mine went, not only did the functions controlled from them fail, so did my heater fan, HRW & lighter.

it IS the stalk, i had this about 3months ago. the part/switch inside the stalk for the dipped beam sort of melts (its hard to explain)

but its the stalk for def, i tired fuses like u have and was as equally as confused but trust these guys...they know what they are on about

I actually had smoke coming from the stalks on my old Teapot when they failed. No mistaking where the problem was then! :)
