leaking gearbox oil from the driveshaft seals - is this something that can be done at home yourself?

Yes very easy if you're a mechanic. Just jack it up and pull the drive shafts out then remove the seal and replace it. Use a socket to bash it out and replace. Better do both sides and drain the oil before you start.

Unfortunately I'm not a mechanic. I changed my slave clutch cylinder though.

So which other parts needs replacing (other than the seal) during the procces of the seal.

I think I need to see pictures before attacking the problem. I need step by step instructions - see if I can get it frim googling.

Thanks

Just the seals. Unless you notice the CV boots are split. I would get the help of somebody who knows how as it is very tricky if your not a mechanic. No disrespect but changing the slave cylinder is just two bolds.

Driveshafts can be (and usually are) an absolute pig, mainly due to Cv joints being a bit of a pig... unless you've put one together before i wouldn't suggest tackling it. Especially if it is a daily driven car. If you can, try to get it looked at by someone.

As its a 1.6 you will have to replace the inner CV boots as they are the oil seals. The 1.4 and 1.6 are not like the others.

Darn darn darn.

Does toppeing up transmission fluid can be done without raising the car?
