Are some tyres (although the same exact spec) a little wider than others?

Dont know if anyone will remember but i posted a while back saying that my wheel had begun rubbing on the arch when the car was quite full.

Anyway have discovered its the tire rubbing / Catching on the arch. It has begun doing this since i got new tyres on my 17"s.

The tyres are hankook ones and replaced some toyo's, they are exactly the same size obviously but now it catches?!

Any ideas?

Tyres the same size from different makers will differ slightly in overall physical dimmensions - and even different model/type of tyre from the same maker sometimes. Tread widths can vary by 10% or so either way.

It's also likely in your case that your new tyres have at least 8mm depth of tread on them, compared to 2-4mm on your old ones, which alone could add-up to 12mm greater overall diameter...
