does anyone have any experience of this in Fiats or at all

with the rising diesel costs, recently £1.20/L average by me now, i have to seriously consider this as an option

still i have a few questions to answer:

1) does anyone know the current £/L? (not worth it if its the same price)

2) will my car run on it? a 1.9 TD100 1999 mk2 Bravo

3) do i need to convert anything in my car to ensure no damage? i know of a solvent issue that requires uprated pipes not sure if my car needs this. this price may also need to be outweighed by savings in cost.

4) i have heard that it actually gives "more bang than standard diesel" is this true?

the only site i have tracked down (not looked too hard yet) with useful info is

http://www.reuk.co.uk/Can-You-Run-Your-Car-On-Biodiesel.htm

i'm just looking for some advise at this stage please dont just post "dont touch the stuff" i'm kinda looking for justification as to why i should or shouldn't or maybe even cant.

cheers for any help Gents.

ps whilst i'm postin i may as well say cheers to everyone who posts on here i have gaind lots of info from boo and even managed to prep, paint and mount my hlx spoiler (tidy little job too), diagnose and fix rubber damped crank pulley problems sort out my rear wiper and a whole host of other minor issues using nothing but info from here.

again thx for any input

Been using this in the work tipper for the last two weeks.

Broken down twice since but changed the fuel filter each time and it works again. Apparently its because it acutally removes all the crap in the lines and blocks the filter. But all is well so far!

Buying it a £0.65 a litre

i enquired about running my car on biodiesel on here before, there have been a few ppl on her who have used it, I have done over 2000miles on bio diesel in my bravo jtd and it runs exactly the same as regular diesel, the mpg seems the same too.

i have read cars made after around 1996 should be ok wid biodiesel and it is best to change ur fuel filter after first 1000miles as the bio diesel will clean out ur fuel tank and can dirty the filter abit.

I pay 90p/litre u could prob get it cheaper but the garage is local to me (wolverhampton) and saves about £10 per tank.

Bio is cheaper because its taxed lower. The JTD's run on it no problem, but as mentioned above, its not only more lubricant, but much more solvent than regular derv, so it does infact remove the lacquering from your fuel tank and lines. I'd be amazed if a well used JTD got 1000 miles before needing a filter if you switch to 100% biodiesel
Ideally you should phase it in over a few tankfulls. That way you will sense that its clogging the fuel filter before its completely blocked. I could go on for ages about the merits of biodiesel versus derv. In fact, i'm sure i have on several occasions, which you can probably find it using the search.

In summer i'd be aiming to get up to 100% bio asap, and in winter reduce it down to about 50% bio:50& derv. I'm assuming its green biodiesel (made from waste veg oil) rather than white biodisel (rapeseed methyl ester aka RME etc) My motives for using bio are cost and environmental impact. It depends on your supplier which type of bio you'll be getting. So long as its tested and meets EN14214 its perfectly good in almost any diesel engine.
