I have filled up my clutch/brake fluid tank but unfortunately it has made no difference to my inoperable clutch.The clutch does not even attempt to engage,i have a feeling that the cable has broke.Could that happen when the car has been parked for a fortnight and had shown no signs of clutch failure prior to that?

if u read my post in the other thread, i stated that the bravo has a hydrolic clutch. which means it could be the slave cilynder.

Brav/s have haydraulic clutches with a slave cylinder ontop of the gear box, hiding under the battery tray.

it is possible the hydraulic line has perished while the vehicle wasnt driven, or the slave cylinder has given up the ghost. best thing to do is take the battery and battery tray out and have a look for any obvious signs of leaking fluids ontop of the box or along the pipe

can the gears be selected at all, or is everything jammed up?

Just checked under car,it appears the fluid i topped up is leaking.So i presume thats a strong indication towards needing a replacement slave cylinder

that would be my first thought yes mate.

as i said, if you take out the battery and the battery tray (4 13mm bolts on the passenger wing, 2 at the front and 2 at the back) you will have good acess and visibilty as it sits directly ontop of the gearbox under the battery tray

Is the slave cylinder specific to the bravo or is it also used in the punto etc,

yep that must be about 6 now in the space of 2 months!!

when i called fiat for my new part the tec even said that it was a common problem!!
