Hi guys,

Need some help on this one please (again!!!)

Looking at replacing the headlights with some sttronger EU legal headlight packages.

Looked at both the Haynes nual and my owners manual and they give me the current specifications at 55w, but not the plug index (H1, H, ETC) Have done a search and found some 100w ones with are blue neon, but I think that these are illegal.. (Not sure about this one, so can someone put me right on this?) So I need to know what is a good wattage to look at without strtessing the electrics or the battery too much, whats legal and not legal, the plug index, you know, the full lowdown if possible. (Ebay links to some products would be fantastic if anybody can go to such lengths for me... :) ) Thanks all!!

They are H1. The best bulbs you can get are Osram Nightbreakers.

If you want the perfect headlight upgrade...

1. Buy some Marea Poly Elliptical Headlights

2. Fit a HID kit with 5000K bulbs.

3. Enjoy! :)

HID Kits

Hi,

cheers for that, however dont HID kits replace the standard bulbs?

cheers

Kai

Yes they do. The xenon gas filled bulbs are provided with the kit. They are awesome!! :)

HID Kits

Ok then,

(Being a bit thick here, but I want to get this right...)

So it seems that the HIT kits are awesomly better, and the way to go.... Am looking at one now.

Doe they replace both the dip adn the full beam lights or just one of them, and if its just one of them, which one?

Thanks indeed

Kai

They (HID) replace the bulb according to where they are fitted. If you look at the pic Rob has provided the dipped and full beam originate from different bulbs. To have HID on both you would need 2 kits per beam. This would be pointless - the full beam is as strong as dipped HID beam, just a different colour light.

Poly+HID+dipped beam = clear night driving.

HID Lights

Thick question again..

I genuinly dont know about headlight stuff as ive never read up or done anything about them.. I assume however, that the one that is lit up on the pic is the HID light that gives you the beam, and the poly-eliptical light is the osram bulb. is this correct?

Also, is it legal and visable to have a HID on the main beam, then a xenon light bulb for teh dipped light?

Apologies for being so thick, but want to look at all options..

cheers

Kai

RE;

The dipped beam will be the HID and the Full beam will be a normal bulb.

The HID's need the polys as a normal head lamp doesnt have cuts in the right places so u'll just end up dazzeling people comming toward you.

Its best to use he HID bulbs as your normal dipped headlight, and use standard bulb for full beam. By most accounts, you wont need to use the full beam if you have a HID kit fitted in place of your normal dipped bulbs.

Using a HID kit for the full beam would be a bit of a waste of time, and money imho.
