*OT* Motorcycle test

*OT* Motorcycle test

Insy, for purely practical reasons, ie my intention to commute 50 miles daily, at least when the weather is nice i'd rather have a more sit-up-and-beg posture than the head down, arse-up that a CBR provides

I've chosen a Honda CBF500 as its a very popular riding school bike, as well as being highly recommended as a good 'first big bike'

reason i dug this up, was cause the loan cleared into my account about, oh, an hour ago. haha. so i've been sat figuring when i can make the 550mile round trip to pay for it and bring it home.

Wotcha Buzz....

You won't go wrong with either a CB or CBR 500, it's just that the CBR is much easier on the eye, and the older ones are well comfy. It's only over the last few years they have got more and more race reppy.

The advantage of the bigger bike is the better brakes and stability for the emergency stop in the test.

Remember doing mine on a CB125, emergency stop on a damp road in the Autumn, not good!!!!

Examiner said to me "You coped well with the slide, if you'd panicked I'd have had to fail you"

how about a XVS125?

OK you must have had a sense of humour to get this far. Its now gone wrong but here is a technical (ish) guide on the common ailments and what to do about them.

When i first waned a bike a few years bac, i was looking at getting one of these:

Its a Kymco Hipster 125

Now, obviously being a bit bigger older and more experienced i'm wanting something bigger. My best mate, who's also buying his first bike this spring, is getting one of these:

Its an AJS Regal Raptor 125 and it looks bigger in the metal than a 125 ought to although given we both weigh about 15 stone (yes, each):O, i think 11hp might be a little on the weak side.

Phoned to put a deposit on that bike this afternoon, and i'd been beaten to it by 4 hours :O

Seriously! Its been 'for sale' since Dec 11th, but the day i called, it was sold. I rechecked the web, and sure enough, it wasn't on biketrader or the honda main site anymore :O

Back to the hunt... My budget is limited now, as i took a loan out based on that bike, lol. Guess i shoulda paid a deposit sooner.
I'll know when i find my next one to do so immediately!
