Hi there, sorry to intrude on your site when in need of help. I only found this site tonight, anyhow, i was wondering if u could help :)

I have a 97 plate bravo 1.6, since the cold has come in, i've noticed in the mornings that when i start it up the revs are up and down and it seems like the engine is being starved of fuel, also the red ecu light is on. Then after 5 minutes or so the light goes off and the car seemed to stabilize.
The only thing that would happen is when i put my foot down a bit, the car would hesitate like it was being starved.
This went on for a couple of months and being an idiot i left it alone. The ecu light wopuld go off after 5 mins and it would be fine, i thought it was just the cold.

Anyway two days ago i noticed the car stayed hesitant, i was driving to work late and it was like when i am putting my foot down it was hesitating.
Then when take it out of gear to slow down, the revs would drop to nothing and it would cut out.
Then i would turn it over to listen to it starting, and the only way it was starting up was when i was repeatedly putting the pedal down and up like pumping it. Then it would kick in at like 1000, yes one thousand revs and over the next two minutes build up to 8000 revs. I would put my foot down and it would seem to like flood, but not and cut out.

I've had new plugs and injectors over the last 6 months, can anyone help me please ???

thanks for reading :)

Get it on a diagnostic machine, there will be a local guy to you that will tell you all your errors for about 30GBP

Although its likly to be your thermostate/temp sender or/and your lambda sensor.

Or at least thats a good place to start.

Not sure what that means, if thats an upset face then get the diags done... its like saying how long is a bit of string. they might clear the errors and the car runs fine. But its pointless trouble shooting when these facilities are avaliable.

DONT go fiat though, they will charge alot more.

if its not injectors or coil pack then my money is on it being the lamba or the map sensor

if it were the crank or cam sensors it wouldnt run at all

i had the same problem it was my lamba.. after got that replaced it was fine!
