Cams???

Hi im Markus, damn am i glad i found this site.

I have a '97 1.6 SX, and i was wonderign whether the cam out of either a 1.8 or a 2.0 would fit into mine?

And also, what kind of gain will this give me?

If you cut the lasy 4 lobes off the HGT cams they might fit

They won't fit, simple as that.

what about if i have my cams recut, i dont know what the word for it is, but they cut it so that it increases the turn?

and also, has anyone ever tried polishing the heads on the 1.6's?

get the C&B fast road cams for it if you weantign to upgrade. look under the modding tab there is a link for them.

Polishing the head will reduce power.

Unless you're planning to fit a piggyback ECU and get it mapped properly you won't gain much from fitting different cams.

why will the polished head reduce power? it makes it smoother therefor making the fluids flow quicker? getting more through

You'd think, but not. A very smooth surface causes the air to stick to it actually slowing the flow. Any good engine tunuer will leave a rough finish on the ports.

rough ports cause air turbulance which makes air mix with fuel betterer!! Basic Science 101
