wanted to ask you people a question about my fiat bravo.

i brought a fiat bravo sx 100 3 weeks ago... i got 2 blue keys and a red key. but on the 2 blue keys theres no immobilizer switch. i have to key in the key manually to open and close the car.

wanted to ask does my fiat bravo sx 100 1999 model have a immobilizer? and a alarm? if yes how can i reconnect my alarm on?

my brother had a fiat bravo hlx he has sold hes car off but still got the keys to his bravo with a immobilizer switch on the key. isit possible if i can recode the key with my red key and use the key for my bravo?

thank you.

I think all models had immobilisors but not all had alarms.

Does your blue key come apart ?

If so, you should find a small black chip inside, that is the immobiliser sensor.

The alarm will be operated by a button on the top of the key....if there is one. Otherwise, you won't have an alarm fitted.

i have 2 blue keys but i cant get them apart as i think they are copyed keys isit possible if i can ring fiat and order the keys? will you know how i can activate immobilizer inside the bonnit? thanks

Genuine keys will have Fiat stamped on the side of them.

It's quite possible that it will still have the chip, but will be sealed in the key. Mine comes apart due to having a battery for the alarm.

Not sure about the under bonnet switch though, as mines an HGT and a totally different setup.

Hopefully one of the experts will chime in on this for a better answer...

You could always pop into Fiat and ask their advise too..

The immob is enabled the moment you remove the key from the ignition.

you are confusing the immob and an alarm.

havea look at yell.com or similar for a garage near you, should be in there or try the fiat website itself, could give you the nearest dealer to you, but if its remote central lockin your after, i believe Tez of boo celebrity, has changed his central lockin relay so he now has remote lockin, and at the mo hes still at the leeds festival, so it could be a while before he`s back, need to ask him where he got it from

Remote Locking Link.

Here's the link for remote locking. It's a straight swap set up, relay for relay. Really simple. You get 2 remotes with the kit and it costs about £44 in total.

Link

Sorry about the length of the link, I don't know how to edit it!

***Link tidied***

thanks for the link mate.. but i just found out i got copyed keys on my bravo and i didnt get the proper ones with the switch on.. i am going to find a way to call fiat thank you for your help!

Unless you have the fiat factory fitted alarm it won't do you any good getting the Fiat alarm keys.

You HAVE an immobiliser, doesn't matter if the keys have the alarm button on or not.

yes thats right i have an immobiliser in my car but not the correct keys.

Can we just clarify something here?

Reading the original post, you have two concerns:
1. You don't know if you have an alarm.
2. You have to manually open the doors.

These are two seperate issues.
A. Some models were fitted with alarms.
B. Some models were fitted with remote central locking.

A. If you have an alarm fitted, there should be an alarm control box next to your main fusebox. It usually has a small key in the lock. If you don't have one then you don't have an alarm fitted.

B. Reading your description of the keys, you don't have remote central locking either. That's why I suggested the after market solution.

In either case, the car is still fitted with an immobiliser as standard. As Tom says, it comes into operation when you switch off the ignition.

Keval- can i just point something out,

the S, SX didn`t come with alarm/remote central locking like on the HLX, HGT and other higher spec bravo/a`s and mareas
all models come with an immobiliser as standard and works as has been metioned above,

unless you have an after market fitted alarm, the SX will not have an alarm fitted as standard from the factory when the car was built, UNLESS someone has already fitted an alarm to the car before you got hold of it, there for it will be an aftermarket alarm

Again only the HLX/HGT and any other higher spec bravo/a`s and mareas will have alarm/remote central locking fitted as standard
your key will not have the little button for the alarm/remote locking

i have a standard fiat alarm on my car,the light on the key flashes but nothing happens...

Key Programming.

@BigAl. here's a link for the procedure. Done by the formidable Jug on the Fiat Forum.

fiat did not keep a register of these codes, so if your codes are missing, they're missing for good. if you buy new keys, even with their codes, you still cant program them into your central locking unless you have the code from a remote that has already been programmed in to the central locking.

to program a remote you simply:

-Press the button that is between your courtesy light and the ultrasonic sensors on the roof of your car (near sunroof switch)
-Release the button after a second or two
-After a couple of seconds the LED will flash once
-Enter the first digit of your 4 digit code by pressing the button the relevant number of times
-After a couple of seconds the LED will flash once
-Repeat this for the next 3 digits of the code.

If the code was correct the LED will flash for approximately 10 seconds.
(If the code was incorrect the LED will remain on for 10seconds, so start from the beginning when the LED goes out)

-With the LED flashing press and hold the button on the car and then press and hold the button on the key. Keep them both pressed until the LED stops flashing and remains on.
-Release the button on the remote, then the one on the car.

now what heppens next depends on the age of the car. some cars have a red LED others have a green LED.

for a red LED, if the programming was successful the LED will flash 6 times, but if it was unsuccessful the LED will flash 18 times

for a green LED, if the programming was successful the LED will flash 8 times (i think, maybe less), but if it was unsuccessful the LED will stay on for a few seconds (8 i think?)

if i am reading corectly then i dont think i can get it done,as i dont have the original code.unless if i take it to a shop and they can read the code?
