Hi all, been a little while since i posted on here but still...

Does anybody know if and where i can get a pair of lowering shocks rather than 4, for the rear of my SX80 because the rear sits higher than the front does, ie theres a larger gap between the wheels and the arch at the back than the front (the front is nearly flush with the arch and the rears got a gap about a fist high) so im thinking if i lower the back it'l get rid of the gap and look better.

Any help apstd

Thanks.

you can buy a pair of rear shocks yes, but you will have to buy a set of 4 springs as they are not sold in pairs

the only thing i will say though is dont do it, you will have different spring rates front and rear and it will make for a very nasty handeling car. the rear will be alot stiffer and skippier than the front whereas the front will be soft.

my advice would be that if you only want to lower the rear get some ice in your boot, make a nice strong and substantial boot build and it will have the desired effect along with the added bonus of better sounds. i alos found that the extra weight over the rear axle made the car handle better, it balanced it much more rather than having a very light rear end in comaprison to the front (although that has alot to do with my driving characteristics... rather fast shall we say)

Thanks for the reply,

If i get a boot full of ice as its only a 1.2 i dought its really going to do the acceleration any justice. have you got any other ideas?

Thanks

I have thaught about lowering all four but my front two wheels are so close to touching the arches that im worried if i lower it i wont be ablwe to turn the wheels properly. Can u get a replacement suspension which doesnt lower the car on the front but just stiffens it and lower it on the back?

Thanks

my thoughts on the ice and the 1.2 are as follows

do it... ive doen similar with my 1.2, altho its not a massive install its enough to lower it a bit... the rear naturally sits higher, and you will be hard pushed to even it up completley. as for the acceleration, the biggest killer is wheels, they slow it down more than an install

And I thought my suspension was just buggered, haha... I've got the same problem. I don't think I can afford to lower the car either (the bodykit virtually touches the floor as it is). Is there a good reason not to get bigger rear tyres..? Will it not throw the speedo out, or do only the front wheels govern the reading?

Cheers,

Tom
