I was driving home today, doing about 38 in a 30, when at the last minute i saw an unmarked police car parked at the side of the road with a hand held speed gun pointing out of his window, i didnt bother braking as it was too late.

Someone told me that if they are going to do anything about it, they would follow you and issue you 3 points, he said the only ones that will issue you a letter through the post and 3 points are the ones that park with the boot open at the side of the road with speed camera warning signs, is this correct??

with speed camera they can note down ur reg plate and then send the fine and 3 points to ur house thats how my sister was done in her subaru

i think with a hand held camera there is room for doubt over an accurate reading. can easily put 10 mph on it. (just trying to cheer you up a bit)

normally when they do that they are after nutters to follow and pull over.

With the mobile cameras they don't have to pull you over nowadays..

If you speed, they save the information, and gets processed when they get back to base...

At 38mph, expect a letter through the post soon.

as above. You dont need to get pulled immediately. However, you will be sweating over the next month on the post. Just sit and hope you dont get the letter.
