Hi there

Having batytery problems i woke up yesterday and the alarm was beaping away trying to open the car battery dead.

So i put the battery on trickle charge overnight drove to work on it this morning and it had gone flat by the time i finished.

Called the AA for a jump start and he cheaked battery its fine but noticed that with everything turned off and ignition off there is a 3amp drain on the battery

Any Ideas please

Anyone has similar fault, as it may take a while to fault find!

THANKS

Well almost all gets in off mode on the bravo when the ignition is off, so check if anything is wrong with the starter motor and its connection, and if all of the main wires to the fuse boxes are OK, also measure if the draining still remains when you switch off your alarm (if its a aftermarket one, they tend to do stuff like that) . Also do you have any amps ..... ??

Sumtimes it can be stupid stuff like i kno wit my bros bravo the battery kept draining coz the boot light stayed on and didnt turn off when he closed the boot so make check all the lights r off and ova stuff. just a suggestion :)

True with the boot light, mine has done that a couple of times. Taken the bulb out now

Taken all the bulbs out disconnected stereo and amp, standard alarm but havent used it locking with key.

everythings appears to be off the battery charging fine off the alternator but still with everything off theres a 3 amp drain.

Need to sort it as disconnecting battery everytime i stop somewhere is becoming a pain

pop the fuses out one at a time to try and narrow it down?

Maybe it's a battery drain through the alternator. Cant tell until ypu have it tested. only other way is to leave your battery disconnected a couple of days and see if it discharges then

Like jay suggested. Get or borrow a current clamp. Clip around the positive terminal of the battery. Establish your 3 amp drain. Put all door switches to a closed position and lock the car (so it thinks its parked up for the night). Pull each fuse in turn, if theres current being drawn it must be going through one. After each fuse pull check the current drain until you find the fuse that is doing it. See what this fuse is for, then using wiring diagrams trace a fault in the system...could be a partial short, or a system getting ignition feeds when it should not. Good luck

Thanks for the response problem solved the back up battery for the alarm was flat and was trying to recharge.

Thanks
