I've got a little plan for my Alfa's ipod instalation, but need someone who's a bit good at electronics to help me out!
Esentially I need to wire a relay or something, so switching one switch can engage two different circuits;
• the power feed to my Harman Kardon Drive & Play Ipod Adapter (As it starts playing the ipod as soon as the ignition's on which can be annoying if I've got an album cued up and havent noticed it's been playing)
• also a deliberate 'short circuit' between the data-in and data-out pins on the Alfa's line-in cable (as you need to do this on the Alfa to enable the CD changer input to be used as a line-in, but CDs are disabled while it's shorted) I usually leave this connected as I rarely use CDs, but I'd like to make it switchable if possible.
That way if I don't want to use the Ipod the flick of one switch will put the stereo back to normal.
It would be really simple to add two switches, but I'd rather try and install one that would do both. There's no power to the data-in and -out so they wouldn't share a ground or anything, so in that respect I'm not sure it's a regular type of circuit.
Anyone know how to do it? I hope that made sense!
