listen guys ive justfound out that if you run the supercharger with less than 8psi you do not and i repeat you do not need to change the internals all you need is coupe turbo injectors custom brackets and pulleys and custom pipe workfor air intake, no need for cooler or ecu remap it should increase power by about 35% and the enginear reckons it would be a cost effective way of uprating power
 
sorry you also need a dump valve to realese preasure in the inlet system on over rev oh and a new cam belt to run the charger lol

its usualy me who brings it up but i kept my mouth shut this time until i got all the facts lol i reckon £600 would see you a second hand supercharger, brackets, pipework, dumpvalve pulleys, injectors and belt.

superchargers go for around £100 so it is in theory a good way to brake that 200bhp line that so many hgt owners would like without the silly costs of the 20vt conversion

watch this spot though as the insults start coming in lol innit

Isn't it cheaper to get a Coupe Turbo Engne?

There is a reason you see so many superchargers on ebay, they have been removed so the owner of the car can fit a new one to get more power.

The Eaton M45 chargers on ebay are capable of ~170-180 max, which is why they have been replaced.

Nor do you need a dump valve with a supercharger. None of the cars they come off have one.

Fast road cams and a piggback will get you close to 200BHP.

sorry but i dont believe for 1 minute that cams and a remap can get 200bhp the cars are getting on now and you would be lucky to brake standed power.

the whole point of running it with less than 8psi is to keep it reliable
 
Then stop talking about it and get on and do it.

Nico's mule is pushing over 190BHP.
 
DL, I will warn you now, what Tom doesn't know, isn't worth knowing.

Don't get into a tech battle with him, because I can almost guarentee that you will lose.

You CAN get approx 190bhp from cams, a piggyback ECU and a proper, free flowing exhaust and a sealed induction kit.

lol i dont claim to be a tech wizz lol

but i am skeptacle about that sort of power my old 306 gti was supposed to be 167bhp standed i put a bmc airfilter, full MAGNEX exhaust and de-cat, 285' cams and pulleys and that was dyno'ed at jp autotechnics at sheffield and that was running 182bhp if i remember rightly and the operater was surprised it made that at the wheels, so you can see where im coming from

ive seen videos on you tube of mareas with that conversion, jesus they shift dont they
 
I remember the Novitec turbo, the 1.8 made about 130bhp with it didnt it?

It gave the barely more power than an HGT.

And cost 6000eur, and was unreliable as it used stock internals.

If you just throw parts at an engine you will never get the best out of them.

Sounds like you threw parts at your Pug then took it for a dyno run and wondered why it wasn't performing. Vernier pulleys cannot be setup witout a dyno, simple as that. And get them wrong and you wave bye-bye to power.

And now you want to throw parts at the HGT on the assumption that 8psi is safe and someone telling you that you don't need a remap....

Yogis (long gone member here) had a 1.8 with K&N, supersprint manifold etc.. No increase in power according to the dyno. He fitted C&B cams, got about 125 from memory. Had it remapped on a dyno and got about 145.

Remap is VERY important.
 
Brazil had a turbo marea made by Fiat, 185BHP from memory. That marea is not a 1.8.
 
it was remaped by jp who are very well known for there work in the tuning scene lol
