My 1997 1.6SX was juddering at around 30mph and the revs were very erratic, even when at a stand still.
Last week had a full service and cambelt change done.
Got the car back the other day and still juddering and erratic revs, plus keeps stalling. :(
Mechanic is a family friend and doesnt know how to cure it. Said it could be "air control valve" or something.
Anyone any ideas?
Cheers

If it was doing it before the service and cambelt change, it rules them out for being the problem I guess!

Erratic idling can be down to the Idle Control Valve (ICV) do a search as there are plenty of previous threads about it! But it wouldn't cause the juddering!!

If it is the ICV do I need to go to Fiat to get it done or will any garage do. The nearest Fiat dealership to me is 50 - 60 miles away and I basically dont think the car will get me there in its current state!! :(

Did it do the same thing prior to cambelt change ?
Where the plugs, leeds changed ???

Yeah did same before service. Plugs were definitely changed so presume leads were too

The leads might not have been changed! Everytime the sparks are changed for a service they won't do the leads everytime!

You can clean your ICV yourself I'm sure I found some sort of guide when searching!

I think you have to disconnect the battery negative lead, disconnect a connector that goes into the ICV and unscrew 2 screws on the left and right of the ICV and then remove and clean. (That's the jist of it!)

I seem to have mislaid my haynes manual somewhere!!!
Does anyone have a pic of where the ICV is located on a 1997 1.6SX please? :)
