im look to purchase a single sub, amp and box package to put in the back of my bravo. Now ive seen box's with and without a hole in the side, front or roof of the box and ones without. the one im getting hasnt got a hole. now should i put one in somewhere or should i leave it??? does anyone know if it makes much difference and which is best?? cheers

if its coming in a sealed box leave it as is mate rather than messing around

if its come in a sealed box its because thats the best set up for the sub, the ports have to be matched to the requirements of the sub and box, its all in the tuning of it, both length and width

Don't put a hole in it. The difference will be the sound. No hole gives a punchy harder bass line Dance, trance etc, hole will give a lower rolling bass line drum and bass, RnB etc.

Its to do with the movement of the air in the box.

if you were to put a hole in it you will completely change the dynamics of the box, Which can well an truly fk up the sound and quality you'll get. Also you would want to make sure that the tube/Port in the hole is exactly right otherswise this will also cock things up and this takes some serious skill and maths to do.

hope this helps

dont modify it. it comes without a port because thats the way it sounds best.

Any recomendations on a amp and sub set want to spend about £200-£250 tops? Should i go for the high wattage?? should i get a box with a hole??

Depends on what sort of music you listen too. I've always had 10inch unported because i listen to more hard dance and House Etc than i do RnB so want the tight punchy bass.
Mates of mine only ever have massive 15 -18 inches in a ported box because they only listen to DnB so want the long rolling bass lines

If you have a range of styles 12 are good and you can usaully find one that will cover all genres of music.

Vibe and Pioneer are good quality units. you could go second hand, just make sure they're ok.
Had some great bargains like this

Either a 10 or 12 inch.

I had the Vibe pre amped 10inch with a port for a long time as i like d all sorts of music. It was about 250 the lot. Be much cheaper now.
