hi, my 1999 bravo hlx 115 failed its mot as the "central section of the exhaust had a major leak". i havent had a chance to look at the car yet. the garage said they think from the cat back is one single piece but i always thought the central section is 'central silencer + pipe' and then you have the 'rear silencer and exhaust pipe'. can anyone advice if the central silencer + pipe is indeed one section, or its one piece from the the cat back. thanks

For some stupid reason, Fiat decided to make it one piece from CAT - back!!! You need a new exhaust mate. Shop around and I'm sure people on here have had new standard exhausts for about £120-£140

get your self down to your local powerflow! they should be able to weld you a new section in. they had my car i a few weeks back and they were great help etc and did not try it on with oh you need this and that just told me what was wrong and how much it was gona cost.

thanks, i'll give powerflow a call in the morning. fiat garage advised £156+VAT. cheaper than local motor factors! i'll have a look and see if it can't be repaired with one of those bonding kits from said motor factors.

I'd check this out if I were you. I know I have a Marea Weekend, but the guy at Kwik Fit that I spoke to yesterday told me the '99 1.8's have a central section. Mine is blowing and should cost about £88 to replace, otherwise it's £240 for the whole thing

It may be totally different for the Marea but worth checking out.

Feck knows. There is an extra box on the Weekend's exhaust too but that's the price I was quoted. As you can appreciate, I'm hoping it's just the centre section.

Seems like a heavy quote - surely a stainless kit wouldn't be that much more expensive.

Rest assured, I will be ringing around, although I do get 10% off at Kwik Fit because I have my insurance with them.
