Winter tires?

Hi…
What size of winter tires should I use for my Fiat Brava 1.6 16V? Now I have 195/50 R15! The salesman on e-mail question told me that 195/65 R15 is too “big” for winter tires for my car!
Can I use 195/15 R15 for winter also or if you have some other suggestion?

Thank you

I think I have 185/60/14 winter.

What ever similar you get it will be fine :) No big worries about that.

I'm going to put my rubbish alloys on which are 195/45/16. All I do is lower the tyre pressure and take it easy.

I'm so helpful, lol. Sorry.

The thinner the tire for winter the better - the thinner the tire is, the better it will go in the snow and not drive on the snow.

Put the same as you have for summer tires, or go to 185

you can use 195/50/15 also for winter, plus thats a pretty cheap size. better option would be 185/55/15
or to get some cheap 14" steel rims and put 185/60/14 on it.

Sorry I don't know much about tires, why is tires for winter 185/55 R15 best option as substitution for tires for summer 195/50 R15?

Thank you

The theory is that thinner tyres cut through the snow better whereas wider tyres compact a greater surface area and increase your chances of losing grip.

It's not really an issue here in Britain but in much snowier climates, it could be advisable.

That or snow chains or proper snow tyres as used in rallying ;)
