however wont opt for marea lights instead after decent bulbs

im aware either phlips or osram will be the best as they offer 50% more light

howeve both offer a bulb which gives off a blue tint, as seen on some mercedes as standard

is this legal to fit on?? t wont fail an mot will it?
as its not exactly giivng off a pure white light

silly if it faisl but im unsure?

also if i opt for a blue tint will it reduce the output than say buying the 50% pure strng light?

I don't think there a problem legally with bulbs that have a slight blue tint but from what I've read on the forum the blue tint removes any gains in light output you may get (do a search).
If you want the best light output go for the bulbs that have been suggested without the tint, I went for the Phillips which were much better than the standard bulbs, then a month later installed poly's with the phillips bulbs - so much better.

re

people slated me for spending 100quid on piaa bulbs, but they are so much brighter and whiter than the ones you get from halfrauds.

Allan

100 on bulbs
and you wonder why you got slated

halfords..maybe be a con most of the time
however the lights from there are of better value and still give you better output compared to most

you soudlve opted for philips or osram

Neither the Osram silver star or Philips vision plus are blue tinted.

PIAA bulbs are a total ripoff.

people keep telling me that but most of the people i knwo who bought osram bulbs have had them blow etc, my piaa's still goign strong.

and they are much more natural white light then a fake blue tint!

hard to call it a fake blue tint when the output is till blue?
unless you call me a poor mans HID output which is what hey are tryign to do.

Never had an osram or philips bulb blow and the silver star and vision plus are not blue tinted as I mentioned before.

re

that was 100 quid for 4 buolbs and sidelights.

i know what you mean but the piaa ones i bought were legally marked, the only ones my friends have bought that are as bright are not marked to be legal for road use, i know it doesnt really make a difference but i'd ratehr spend a bit more and be legal.

Allan

All osram and philips bulbs are E marked and road legal, even the blue vision ones.

YES AS ABOVE

you cannto get more legal than the phlips and osram brands
unless clearly stated for of road use which are the 100w

I told you all about PIAA bulbs being sh1te ages ago!!!
Sh1te for the extortionate price, that is. They may well be OK bulbs.

Which PIAA range did you fit, Alan?

www.piaa.co.uk
Mercedes forums report that for them PIAA give the best performance and seem to last longer than others. Certainly worked for me. Advice seems to be that care is needed when upgrading main beams as when you turn them off, the eye takes time to respond to the loss of light and so it can appear darker on dipped, even if they are upgraded too! So consider upgrading dipped lights over beam if possible

re

i cant remember the exact range, have the boxes at home with my original bulbs in somewhere!

they worked out about 107 quid delivered for 4 h1 bulbs with piaa led sidelights, which were a rip off i know.

i'm quite interested if you have ever bought any piaa bulbs tom?
