It is with a sad heart that i get rid of my '98 Bravo SX.
This short and tumultious journey of FIAT ownership came to an end on thursday when i recieved a letter from Cheshire county council.
At first i assumed it was gonna be a speeding ticket as i was flashed going over the stocksbridge bypass on the way to manchesetr airport so you can imagine my relief when i found out it had nothing to do with that!
The letter was titled 'Trading standards - vehicle descriptions act' i started to suspect the worse.
I rang the number on the top of the letter and spoke to a very pleasant gentleman who was investigating the private trader from whom i purchased my car.
He asked me to confirm my name and address and also my car details, which i obligingly did.
He then asked me what mileage i had on my car at the moment, "80k i replied" and what did it have on it when you purchased it "63k why?" i replied.
He then proceeded to tell me the history of my car.
It was bought for private sale but the customer couldn't afford it so the registration was cancelled and it was returned to FIAT, it was then bought by a rental company and was run to 126,000 miles before it was bought by an ex-rental dealership.
It was then purchased by a bloke called Barry of 'A to B car sales' in Marton near congleton who then clocked it and sold it to me!
If any of you ever come into contact with this prick steer clear! i still have his phone number so will think of something whitty to do with it, until then....be careful.
As the was in the garage awaiting more costly repairs to the head gasket i decided to cancel the job and got the AA to tow it to toyota from where i have used it as a deposit on a new yaris with na 4 year/ 60k miles warranty.
From my calculations the car has now done around 150,000 miles, more than half the way to the moon, and it has caused me nothing but trouble. at least i now know why. It has to go, i'm sick of payin over the odds.
Thanks to everybody on here who helped me with the problems my car had and stopped me from being ripped off by local garages and fiat franchises alike.
R.I.P FIAT Bravo 1.6i SX - you were ****e but you were mine.
