hey
my 1.9 sx jtd 105 w reg has a real lack of power uphill, foot to the floor it does about 30 mph, it does have a limiter but im sure the car should pull uphill faster than it does, could it be turbo problems?

Hey, try and keep to one post instead of posting several of the same.

Your problem could be with the EGR, but most JTDs suffer from problems with the MAF sensor. Mass Air Flow sensor. If its damaged or corroded it will give an incorrect reading to the ECU and it will either make the car run like crap (limp mode) or you'll have difficulties accelerating over 3000rpms.

Before you replace the MAF or EGR etc, do you have any warning lights on the dash? As it maybe something else. If not my guess would be the MAF or EGR. MAFs go very often on the JTD. Cheapest place can be www.shop4parts.co.uk. Dont try the EBay copies, they are not genuine Bosch.

Before you go replacing the above, make sure its connected properly. Its the piece of equipment after the air filter, with a plug going into it. It may have fallen off or been cut off by previous owner.

Also try disconnecting the MAF, as the ECU will use a standard setting to replace the missing info from the sensor, usually when people try this with a knackered MAF the performance increase is dramatic.

follow big pipe from air box and you will reach a hard plastic tube with a connector in the top, so forms a kind of 'T' shape. Pull this connector out.

Cheers

Easy way of knowing if the MAF is faulty is: the car wont go over 3000rpm.
The EGR can be faulty, but it wont make the car loose much power - it only recirculates the exhaust fumes.
The car will blow black smoke.

If the car is smoking a lot (black smoke), check the rubber pipes from the turbo to the intercooler and to the intake manifold - they may have a leak.

And make sure you hear your turbo working, the solenoid that controls it may not be working right.

Mr Marea, its not always true that if you disconnect the MAF the will run better than if it had a faulty one.

Not sure if the JTD100 or JTD105 have a different system, but my JTD100 if unplugged drives really poorly, no power at all, av speed about 40mph.

MAFsensor

sensor was replaced last thursday, EGR valve cleaned, i think egr valve working ok but hardly any suction on the pipe that goes on the top of the valve assembly

Before the turbo or after ????
If there is no suction before the turbo - the fault is in the turbo or the turbo solenoid.

Can you hear the turbo whisteling ?

Quote "Mr Marea, its not always true that if you disconnect the... " Yes thats what i said read the post - see the word usually that means it not always true.

Alot of people had success in diagnosing a faulty MAF by disconnecting it, i should know i spent long enough reading old post trying to diagnose my JTD problem, when i disconnected mine it made no difference.

mine did... was playing up.. so dissconnected it.. and it when like a rocket again!!!

Sounds just like a maff problem to me... I think i can still get them for about £110-120.

only other thing would be fuel pump problem or air getting into the fuel lines.. but the MAFF seems the most liky problme!
