Hi,
Quick question needing urgent answer-
Would 16" alloys with 205/55/16 tyres fit ok on a Brava?

Thanks,
Stephen

no it was on my old 1.4 bravo changed them for some 17 inch alloys i am sure they were the same height just the 17 was more alloy and less tyre

I work it out that my current wheels (17") with 205/40 tyres on are 511mm tall (17" in mm = 431 + (2x40)=511).
The 16" wheels im looking to buy (fiat stilo ones) are 516.5mm tall (16" in mm = 406.5 + (2x55)=516.5) which is 5.5mm taller than current.
Now if im correct with the width being 205mm(?) on both sets and the fact that you can lower a brava by 40mm and still fit 17s with 205/40 on then these 16" alloys should fit fine unless im missing something or made a mistake in calculations?

I think i'll risk it and buy them.
Cheers for the info.

Stephen

You do know that the 55 part isnt 55mm, its 55% of the tyre width don't you?

Oh, no I thought it was mm.
Back to the calculation then :)

So calculation would be:

(((Wheel Size / 100) x (Aspect))x 2) + Wheel Size

Is the 55% added twice (for bottom and top) or does the 55% include both bottom and top (therefore actual tyre thickness from top of wheel to top of tyre would be 27.5% of the wheel size)?

Think I have the real diameters now - found a calculator online - http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

It says my current are 23.5 inches in diameter and the new ones are 24.9 inches in diameter so that 1.4 inches bigger which is 35.56mm.
As my car is not lowered they may fit, I'll have a think about that one.

What does the 205 mean? Is it width? and what measurement is that in?

Thanks,
Stephen

If you have not ordered your tyres yet then why not just buy the 45 profile ones that Tom recommended?
