A good informative watch, plus shows the advance in safety in F1 today.

no need to say sorry dan you listed what was on the link, if people don't want to watch then don't! (not having a go at any one :) ) all i can say is it shows the courage some of these drivers and marshals have, if you have watched the vid you will KNOW which scenes i mean.

I guess im now more numb than most to watching such horric scenes but watching any1 die is a very upsetting thing for every1.

It must be horrible for the marshells who put their own lives at risk, trying to save the lives of people who put their lives at risk.

The most moving scene must be the driver who sprints to rescue another driver in an upturned car which bursts into flames.... you can see & feel the distress as he tries to rescue this man... why didn't others stop to help!! is finishing a race more important than helping another!!

I think there are alot of us on here who would help another motorist fi in an accident or if we saw them break down on the road.....

Maybe im just wierd, but i nearly always carry 1 can or petrol and 1 of diesel in my boot, just incase I see some1 break down on the road.

Interesting video, but if watching people die is distressing, then DON'T WATCH THIS VIDEO!!!!

i feel like a softy now cos it was quick upsetting see in how distressed the man was when there wasnt anything he could do to help the guy in the upturned car on fire, if only more people had the compassion that guy had

watched this ages ago... it was moving watch that racer help save the otehr guy cant work out whilst the marshells are pulling him away instead of helping...

but to answer ur question in the event of some one breakinf down NO i do not stop.. in the even of a truck crashing in to a car.. then yeah id stop and help..

but then i rarely stop as u all know from the pedestrian cross debate a few months back :)

wow that was emotional

think the music helped as well ......... what did it for me was watching the CPR on one of the drivers........this isnt a movie it was real life

and just think those cars are not only designed to go fast they are designed to crash as well

Actually, most of those cars weren't designed for crashes, except for maybe Senna's and Ratzenbergers, to a degree. Back in the golden era of F1, they were simply designed for speed and had minimal safety features.

Senna's death was the last suffered by a driver in F1 and the impact of that tragedy (coupled with Ratzenbergers death the day before) meant that very stringent safety guidelines were adopted. F1 wasn't prepared to lose another one of it's best drivers.

There have been similar crashes since, and some nasty injuries, but no fatalities. This is the longest spell without a driver fatality (12+ years) since the gap between Ricardo Paletti in '82 and Roland Ratzenberger in '94.

Senna gave us fantastic enjoyment with his racing. His legacy might just be that he also gave us a death free sport.

Haha, i was with you on that pedestrian debate smee

The worst i think is seeing the guy getting taken out by the car as he runs across the track, then in slow motion

Its just wierd seeing it, knowing they are no longer here an all that, the music aswell, i think it has the biggest affect on people, sends a shiver down my spine

ok again i am going out on a limb here...

i hate to see some one die just as much as the next guy.. but isnt that wat made f1 wat it was... the fact that these men where giants in machines risking there lifes each week in the bid to entertain us... sorry but f1 of today is crap... it might as well be a geek on his ps2 that drives these cars there that much computer controlled now. there is no real risk of crashing so where does the entertainment come from when 22 cars start a race. and 1 or 2 spin off 3 or 4 engine failure and the rest just drive round and round untill the flag...

sorry f1 of today isnt entertaining give me the days of senna if not before when real men drove cars and not the CK wannabe's of today

After watching that, the biggest leap in safety didnt seem to be the cars so much as the headgear, even until quite recently they were the flimsiest looking helmets you can imagine!!

I know what you mean about todays driving and the lack of excitement, but its not just about the risk of someone getting killed, I honestly beleive there is far less overtaking (and yes, risky manouvres) than in the olden days, teams seem more content to try and outwit each other on fuel stratergy and pit stops rather than balls out driving

thats cos of the cars.. u cant slip stream any more... as soon as u get in the slip stream u cant actually go any fast than the car in front the aero dynamic of f1 to do is all ****ed up. id much rather watch formula 3000
