guess who got wimmys old car?? me the only problem after ownin it for three days its broke down dont know whats up with it but it aint startin the bastard.
Seems you are getting nowhere fast. First, Does the engine turn? If not, check and clean connections, especially earth from body to engine. If the engine turns over, check fuel supply, take a plug out and see if it's wet...If so, check the ignition side, Ie,loose or broken wires.
woo whats with all the abuse i never ment to cause any offencejust sayin that ive bought his old car and after a few days wont start am new to this sight. it runs now but not 100% bit lumpy hopin to get a guy out to check the riming and get it tuned. ive pulled out the plugs one by one with the car runnin it only seems to be firein on 2 or maybe 3 cylinders. the car ran fine for bout 4 days after i bought it and everythin was sound but hey things like this just happen so am not some kind of idiot as some people might of thought.
no lights have come on on the dash and ive contacted the previous owner and wimmy him self and they didnt have problems with it so it must have just occured when i had it. little help or advise would be appreciated if anyone has had the same problem cheers.
Hi again Chris.
As mentioned I'm really stumped on it. I sold her back in January and she was running fine. (new battery was purchased in Jan too).
Not sure what the next owner did to it. After buying it he told me he had ordered a power boost for it. In ither words an ebay resistor. I told him immediately not to fit it and explained what they really do. He said he took my advice and would not fit it.
Engine was in top nick when sold. Head gasket was replaced at 100k. When the head was off I inspected everything else. Not a single lip on the bores, cams and followers like new. It was a great suprise for me
As for lumpy, I really dont know what may have happened. Best to check all plugs and leads to make sure they are all working fine. Also may be worth checking the idle control valve.
Just a few pointers to check.
Hope you get her sorted as I miss seeing her now
(and in addition, I think the original post was misread by a few. Lad aint having a go - just pissed off his car aint working as most of us are when we have a prob)
Heads up
mt bets on the ignition coil or the throttle body. quite normal 1.2 issues change the ht leads too as bravos are fussy if ht leads are not in top notch!
Anything With Tits or Wheels Will Cost You MONEY!!
any guess on howmuch any of these will cost my dads guess ws the ignition coil or even the timing belt slipped a few teeth puttin the timing out either way hope it doesnt cost alot to repair
yea mate ive tried that and the number 3 leads not firein so somethin wrong with the ignition???? does this explain the lumpiness and the mad tappin when the car finaly starts after tryin a few times???
It will. It will sound rough as fook if only firing on 3.
Change one of the HT leads over first to check if its the lead at fault. Then try changing a plug.
Lead or plug is the cheapest option.
