Well...... discovered a gearboil oil leak last week. Drained the oil and no metal bits in there which was good. Cleaned it all up to try and find where the leak was coming from. (she did this to me as I said I wasnt going to Brooklands).

After a little cleaning and leaving overnight it was apparant that the leake was coming between the plate near the 5th gear housing. My guess is that the seal has been broken when the clutch was being fitted a couple of weeks back.

Didnt drive the car at the weekend and took it for its MOT on Tues. Straight pass thank god. Off to a transmission specialist on Weds and fixed by Thurs. Luckily the box did not have to come out. Managed to take the 5th gear out and re-seal it all. All running nicely for a little £150 (was expecting a lot more with the HGT box).

Back to happy motoring and mods. Need to redo the material on passenger side (creases appeared), paint the callipers and get the new front sorted now.

Well that could have been a lot worse chap. Glad she's up and running again.

And remember - NEVER FAIL TO MAKE A MEET AGAIN!!! She may not be so forgiving next time.

They've had more gearboxes between them than I've had hot dinners.

Lol. This gearbox is fine! I just had a leak and reckon it was the fault of the original garage following the clutch change.
