Hi guys,

Right....! I currently have a Bravo 1.2 SX80. I have seen a 1.8 HLX and am very tempted. I have checked with my insurance company and I can afford it but...
- the car is a year older than my current one
- it has 11'000 miles more on the clock to mine
- but its a 1.8 :):):)

Heres the link:

What do people think? I'm 21 by the way and have been driving for 4 months now.
Also, if anyone lives in or near Pontefract, is this garage trustworthy (as far as garages go :))

Thanks guys,

It does look very nice, at the end of the day only you know if you can afford a car that will be more costly for petrol and might be for repairs. Plus only you know if you're ready for the extra power. Have a good long think about it so you dont make a heat of the moment decision.

im a 19 year old student and i can afford to run my 1.8, plus its always nice to have something faster than the saxo vtr crew

Faster than a Saxo VTR yes but VTS no!

Anyway, looking at the car it looks nice, however the boyracer alloys are a bit off putting. I.e Has it been thrashed etc. I know most of us on here drive with car but some are total boy racers.

Think good and hard.

It's too expensive, but the mileage isn't bad.

Th ewheels look horrible (or previously pointed out), but you can get reasonable priced used Fiat originals to replace them.

I think that you woudl do better privately, as this car will have been a traded in from a main delaer that has put it out to auction.

Think carefully.

Think cost, think service history, think tyres, think insurance, think MoT.

Thanks for the comments so far!

I've spoken to the guy at the garage today, and he says he will allow me £1000 on my car for a p/x as it has a couple of prangs which show up pretty bad (on a black car!!) I also have a 'wrinkled' front wing where I had a disagreement with a bollard!! He will accept about £2000 so I only need to pay out £1000 cash for it. The advert doesn't say that the windows are tinted (light smoke) and its lowered 40mm. He will also throw in a one year warranty with AA roadside assistance.

I actually quite like the alloys, there are a lot more out there that would look better but they aren't the worst ones on the market either imo.

If the car was black, I would have snapped his hand off today. I love the colour of it, but theres something about Black Bravos (I washed mine today and couldn't help but smile when I'd finished!)

As you can probably tell, I'm still stuck between a rock and a hard place! I have until next weekend to decide what I want to do.

As I said before, thanks for all comments so far, please keep them coming!!

Regards,

yes the VTS saxo's are quick, 130 odd bhp. not bad from a 1.6, i would say go for the car. cant go wrong for 1000 and its got a few little extras like the alloys etc.

I would do a bit more shopping around to be honest, the price is too high and i'm sure you could get more than 1k for your bravo private sale. There are plenty for sale out there so dont rush into it and loose yourself money

do it, maybe shop around more as others have said but get a 1.8 if you can afford it, i had one at 17 after i sold my 1.3 escort (beast) and never had any problems at all with it.

There is always a better deal.
