Think I am right in saying you would see weird throttle response and possibly unstable revs.

I think this sensor affects how much fuel is introduced to the engine as the throttle opens to bring in air.

I had to have a play around with mine when I connected up nos so it knows how open your throttle is before adding in the n2o.

Tom may have a better explanation.

Cheers,

Dan

My revs are not stable at the moment...could it be this? Would it more likely be the ICV?

At idle? The TPS is only used when you move the throttle, ie open or close it. At steady state it does nothing.

Yeh at idle, think it could be the idle control valve then?

I've got a new TPS sitting here, is it worth me fitting it to see if it makes any difference?

BMC CDA Induction Kit, Supersprint Manifold, De-cat and catback exhaust system, Dastek Unchipped, nothing major, C&B cams are sitting infront of me now waiting to go in...

It does get driven hard admittedly.

Sometimes when it first gets started in the morning alot of white smoke poures out of the exhaust until it's warmed up, it's definately more than condensation...what do you think it could be?

The white and disappears very quickly is water, if its blue and hangs around its oil.

How unstable are the revs?

It shouldnt be burning water tho should it...what's causing that?

The revs jump up a couple of hundred rpm every 5 seconds or so from idle...

it wont be burning water. for every gallon of fuel u produce a gallon of water like substance which will either be liquid or as steam (white smoke)

Could be your dastek is playing up.

Burning anything with hydrogen in it makes LOTS of water. Its not condensation.

But it doesn't disperse quick enough to be water...it hangs around when it comes outta the exhaust, after a while it stops once the cars warmed up a bit...head gasket maybe?

If it was the HG your engine would be dead by now.

How often do you have to top up the oil and water?

Hardly ever, I only check the oil every few months...it's always fine...

Water I only need to top up every couple of months too.

I do ALOT of very short trips to uni and back every day, this wouldnt help I guess.

Its water from burning fuel. Simple as that.

A faulty ICV would make the revs jump by thousands, if its hunting around by a couple of hundred I'd suspect the dastek.

Okey doke, I guess that would make sense as it's only ever happened since the Dastek was fitted anyway...the bloody thing stops the car from starting poperly too. The technician made the mixture too rich on start up and i get lots of banging and popping for a good few seconds before it'll start (excess fuel I suspect?). Sometimes I have to turn the key back and try again, quite embarrasing at times.
