Battery Draining

I bought a Brava 1.2 from a main dealer last November. When left standing for 3 to 7 days the battery often drains (but not always). It is an intermittent problem which has occured 6 times since November.

Its been back to the garage who have checked the battery and charging circuit and say both are OK.

I've had these independently checked which has confirmed that the battery/charging circuit are OK.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?

Could it be some kind of loose connection? or a short circuit?

I would appreciate any thoughts/ideas.

mine does this... i left it a week and it needs bumping... i have no idea y.. i switch it off and my battery drops to 13v and sits there. i get in it turn key to mar and i can watch the needle on the volt gauge drop like a cheap hookers g string.

Check your boot light, in my dads brava it was not going out when the boot was closed.

check if your batt is getting filled (loaded) proper. It could be that your alternator isnt strong inough to fill it up proper, so the capacitye drops in time.

i had this problem for ages, so got a new battery it doesnt drain now but my windows are always really slow goin up or down and my lights dim when im sat at lights untill i pull off then they get brighter the car has just been to the garage for loads of stuff done i asked them about it and they couldnt find n e problem guess its just one of fiats amazing little annoyen things that they seem to always create

When your lights do that, you either have a malfunctioning regulator on the alternator, or the capacitye of the batt is to high (eg. 65 instead 45Ah) so it cant fill it proper at low revs

@Smee - what is the Ah value of the batt you got in ?
You should have 50Ah or 55Ah the most in - bigger then that will make problems

Just a suggestion, do you have an aftermarket head unit? I had exactly the same problem about a year ago and it turned out to be two wires that had been trapped behind the HU when it was fitted that were causing a short. I had a new battery and alternator fitted before the fault was found!! Luckily, it was still under the garages warranty.
