How'ye all,

yesterday the brothers JTD started squealing when the clutch is depressed, and it was getting a tad difficult to put in gear. Methinks the release bearing has had it. Sometimes there is also a creaking/cracking sound from the bellhousing when the clutch hits the floor, but it doesent seem to be the slave cylinder (even though its also on its way out - the boot has torn). Any other possible causes ?. Clutch was working fine itself, i.e. no slipping or juddering. Approx how much is the replacement bearing from FIAT ?. And do the driveshafts just yank out of the gearbox ?.

If the bearing is gone - chage the whole clutch!
It will probably go short after too.

The clutch change is a bugger, I know one of the drive shafts goes out, but not sure on the other one. When I changed mine, they where unscrewd on the wheel hub. Plus the big problem is, you must unscrew the starter motor, that has 2 screws that are hard to reach.

Ok Sven, thanks for the info. We have got the starter off (bloody hell its tricky !). Anyone else know if the drive shafts just yank out of the gearbox ?. I dont want to pull them out at the hub as there are non reuseable pinch nuts on them..

no remap as yet, but its in the pipeline. we are going to replace the clutch anyway, remap will be 130 bhp i think.

Just had the same thing on my Brava 1.9TD 110SX

Best part of £600 i'm afraid.

Hopefully the JTD will be cheaper.

re clutch release bearing

Releasing driveshafts. The shafts prise off at the gearbox,An old tyre lever is ideal for this. no need to release the hubnut but the suspension legs wil have to be released at the bottom to allow the driveshaft to be drawn out

thanks Al, thats as i thought. Rob, where did you get the TD110 engine ?. what year is your bravo ?. I didnt think there was a 110 TD..
