Brake pedal -ball bearing noise.......

Hi all,

Whenever I touch the brake pedal with my foot, (even very gently) it makes strange ball bearing/small spring noise which lasts for about five seconds, then slowly fades.

Even when my foot isn't on the brake pedal, the noise can be heard (although faintly) when going over bumpy surfaces.

If I put the brake pedal right to the floor, the sound amplifies, and when I quickly remove my foot, it continues and then slowly dies down.

I have checked the top of the pedal arm, but cannot work out where this bizarre sound is originating.

It's a 96' HLX.

Thanks.

Can't help with original problem, but I would suggest if you can get your brake pedal to the floor you should fix that problem first

I should have said when I reach the end of my pedal travel.

No, my pedal doesn't hit the floor:)

On closer inspection of the pedal arm with a torch, there is one possible place the noise is originating. Now, I do not know a great deal about braking systems, but there is a rod which is activated by the brake pedal arm, and it pushes a rod into a rubber-sealed cylinder (which I presume is the primary piston?)

So, could it be a master cylinder issue? (my brake pedal feels fine, so I don't suspect a leak)

Or a simple problem with (what I assume is) the brake-light activator. (white plastic device with a multitude of wires running from it)

Take some WD40/silicone spray and spray the pedal
