Hi all. My gf's 306 has started making a weird noise under the bonnet. It's kind of a sucking noise, a bit like the noise my induction kit makes. I know it's a bit vague, but does anyone know what the possible causes could be? I've had a look for any loose or corroded pipes but all seems ok (may have missed something as all the light i got was from my phone torch!) but there is a bit of oil around the seal for the vacuum pump. All help is much appreciated as shes moaning at me to get it sorted!

i used to have a 306 td, great motor got 123 on the clock once!!!!!! suprised u can hear anything other than the good old clatter of a traditional diesel. mine used to make a hissing type of noise when the turbo used to spin up so it may just be that. is it at about 2500 rpm to 3000 rpm? coz that's when it starts to wind up. sold it to a mate, passed it's mot 1st time and it's still going strong with 180k on the clock and has never had a clutch change!!!!!! keep changing the oil and it'll go on and on and on and on ......... wish fiat made things like that ho hum!

It's the non-turbo diesel so can't be that! It does it when idling too. Checked the coolant and its got black bits in so could be the head gasket? Not too sure if its oil though tbh, the black bits are stuck round the insides? it's only done 66k! Any other ideas?

My mate just had to replace the hose between the turbo and the intercooler as it had split. Maybe worth checking that out.
