I have a problem with the driver seat on my Fiat Bravo. The driver seat has stopped locking into position and is falling forward all the time. Does anyone know if it is possible to look at the mechanism in the seat or if the complete seat needs to be stripped? I have had a quote from a fiat dealership and they would charge £75 + VAT just to look at it.

Any help would be very welcome!

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, i'm not sure how to help you there, but would like to say...whatever you do, don't ask the dealership for a new seat-or even a quote if you need to get a new one.
i made the mistake of calling them asking about one...after 5 mins on the line he came up with.. £700!!! :| completely INSANE!!!! i don't know if he was pulling my leg, or if he had a sick family or whatever...but i was open-mouthed for the whole day!
ranting over :)

I had it happen to the passenger side and it was just a flimsy moving catch underneath the seat that had become bent with someone slamming the seat back into position. Have a look underneath whilst getting someone to move the release lever and you'll see it

I mean the seat back release lever as this releases the entire seat to go forward for access to the rear

I wouldnt be surprised if it would be some rough treatment to the seat as it happend just after getting it home from the MOT. The garage tresponsible for the MOT of course tells me it isnt their fault.

Is this seat back release easy found under the seat and where can I find it?

Thanks alot for your reply!

It was a long time ago now but it happened to mine just when someone slammed the seat back into position after getting access to the rear. From then on, everytime someone braked the seat would slide forward.

From what I remember, underneath the seat when looking from the back there's a rod attached to a thin lever which engages with the seat rail.

This had been bent and just needed some bending back into shape with some pliers. It was an easy job and I did it on the road in a few minutes

Oh, maybe I explained my problem a bit bad.

The problem I have is that the back rest on the seat is leaning forward and wont lock back into position.

Anyone have a clue?

You have, if I remember right, two hooks in the seat. They hook on a metal rod and hold the seat in the position. You must take the seat cower off to gain access to it.

Use my guide
