I need to sleep. If I activate the alarm (and hence lock the car) using the key fob, after about 20 mins the alarm goes off! I then use the key fob to turn it off again and relock it and it goes off again!

It can do this for a week and then be fine the next!

I'm just locking it by using the key in the lock rather than the remote at the mo. The alarms not set but at least I can sleep!

Any solutions?

(have a '99 1.8 HLX - if it matters)

As a temp measure, if you hold the alarm button down on the fob when setting the alarm, you will hear the single beep and then after a slight pause, five more beeps. This turns off the interior sensors but activates the immobiliser. This will make the car more secure than just locking the doors and may tell you what is at fault as well.

mine does it too its doing it now as i type this lol

i think its to do with the hot weather i find that if i hover the car it seems to make the situation better cos there is less dust floating around in the car.

if i cant find the route of the problem soon im changing the alarm lol go for a flash full closure jobbie me thinks :)

Hover the car????

Tell me how please.

Oh Hoover ;)

I have heard of the changing temperature affecting the interior sensors on alarms due to the changing temp/density of the air or something.

Still shouldn't do it repeatedly though, i would have thought. Usually sorts itself out 30-40 mins after you leave the car
