What is the black box between the engine block and the battery connected to the air system for?
Can i remove it, will i gain or lose bhp?

Its a resonator box, not sure if you will lose or gain power (i suspect you will lose), but someone will know.

Apparently if you remove it you will lose mid-range torque. I removed it on mine, and have to say there is a little loss in torque(in 2nd & 3rd gear when trying to pull up a hill for example) but the noise of my new induction makes it all worth it!
