Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my bravo. It started knocking on the drivers side mainly when turning a corner at a slow speed (like going round the mini roundabout into my estate).

Gradually it has got worse and it now knocks in a straight line aswell. Tested it by driving it off a kerb and it makes a really loud clunk. Suspension all seems fine. It sounds like something bangs out of place, then back in.

Anyone have any idea what it may be?

Driveshaft, although it could be a few things, if you jack your car up and try and pull and push the wheel in and out it means that its the cv joint or something, im sure someone like Tom will be of more help

If it is driveshaft its not too expensive or labour intensive

Yeh, ive had simular problems in the past with my Vauxhalls, it always came down to the CV joints being knackered on the driveshaft. I had more of a tinnier sound tho.

Its recently had its drive shaft taken apart because of a problem with the crown wheel, its only really started since i got it back from them. I took it back and they said they were happy it was nothing theyde done.

However, when i pull and push the rod that connects the wheels to the transmission (not sure if thats right) it has some play in it. (in and out movement). But the place said that was normal.

That rod is the drive shaft. It has to have some play otherwise it will snap when the suspension moves.

If it started after someone messed with the drivetrain then most likely it is their fault. Take it back.

They said they are happy its nothing theyve done etc etc etc and took it for a drive, but it didnt make the noise (typical).

but since then.... the passenger side strut is also leaking fluid, and i know this wasnt happening before since i recently had my tyres changed and there was no fluid on the inside of the alloys.

Do they mess with any of that when they are taking it apart?
