Every time i start my car up in the morning it's very noisy, it scream's like a pig for about 5 min's then dies down, but it's still quite loud, i'm thinking it could be the timing belt but not sure, i dont know if it's had one fitted either, any ideas ?

It sounds like the timing belt.
Did you change the plugs, leads, oil, air filter - some of the stuff may be causing the engine to die.

Does it sound deisel like? If so get someone to check the variator...

Hi mate, it's the hgt 155 and it does sound a bit like a deisel, i dont think it is the timing belt co's it's got 67k wrote on the cover for the belt so i'm taking that as when it was done and it's 82000 now, what's the variator

The variator goes on the end of our camshafts.
If it was perhaps on its way out, this dying down after 5 or so minutes is just how it would sound, so worth getting it checked out.

The variator is the part in the top left...



I believe (although i am not sure), that it varies the timing, if its not working properly the timing will be out and makes the car sound like a diesel...

Around £150 from memory.
