hi all britons! :)

did a timing belt job yesterday and on the way did all other belts.

after that the engine sounds a bit different, and feels a bit harder in movement.

could it be one of the belts are too tight?

btw. cost me 463 euro, parts and job.

what do you mean engine feels harder in movement. do you mean wont rev when you accelerate - will give you benefit of english as obv EU cousin

sorry mate, im italian and as one my english isnt as good as yours... :)
anyway, what i meant was that it feels as if engine is weaker than before + it sounds different.

any suggestions? thought it might be one of the belts too tight...donno.

any ideas?

could be belt tension, sould be that one of the pulleys isn't quite lined up properly, could be that it needs a little time to run in.

I would take it back to the garage and express your concern, they can look at it, if they say all is well then if something is wrong which damages your engine atleast you can say you took it back for them to look at when you are trying to get them to repair it.

Uncorrect timing

Lack of engine power and different sound should indicate that the timing may not be correct. It is so easy to miss the correct timing when removing the old belt, changing the pulleys, and placing the new belt. If the timing is uncorrect by one tooth on camsheft sprocket it would make the engine feel different (weaker) than previously without causing any harm to the engine in a short term but may lead in long run to burnt exhaust valves.

Re: Uncorrect timing

i can say its a bit better today, but still it feels a bit different than before i did the timing job.

donno..maybe its in my head :))

Re: Uncorrect timing

i,d say it all points to the belt timing , most probably the pump pulley is one tooth out. diesel are trickier than petrol, take it back and get them to check it, if they are a good garage they will be happy to.

Re: Uncorrect timing

Battery off ECU resetting it self ?

Re: Uncorrect timing

went to the garage this morning, checked it out, nothing wrong with the timing belt.
anyway, this morning it seemed to be better,
maybe its because ive changed all the belts and it took some time for'em to adjust...

Re: Uncorrect timing

i had the same prob when i got mine changed last month on my hgt, it took a week or so to start running smoothly again, maybe they take time to settle in but once youve got the idea in your head that there might be a problem it seems to appear much worse.
