I`ve had this prob before and someone one here had a file that fixed it no probs, but guess what its back, and i`ve lost the file.
any helpers?

Do a windows search for that file and if you find it place it to system32

if your trying to run a 16 bit proggie in 32 bit windows right click the 16 bit proggie and in compatibility click run under "windows 95" or somthing similar depending on your version of windoze

don't suppose anyone knows how to solve the 'Windows Messenger' pop-ups? get them at least every 5 minutes!

stop searching through porn site`s and use google tool bar/also use system wiper(clears cookies/temp inter files ect on shut down)

lol, agree with the above,

someone told me you can stop the messenger service but that will also stop other things working and isnt really a fix just ignoring the problem

If you know what you're doing then run Hijack This and delete the line calling up the messages

Id stop the messenger service and you wont see a difference

Net Send Command wont work though. Not a problem for most users though. only if you do every thing by command line

Right Click my computer
Go to manage
Choose Services
Find Messenger in the list
Right Click it
Go to properties
Set to disabled

Should test ok instantly

Easier still, download Shoot The Messenger, run it (it's an executable, not an install) and click "Disable Messenger".

Turns off the Windows NT/XP Messenger Service (not to be confused with MSN Messenger). This service was originally used for system admin's to send messages to network users, but has become exploited by hackers etc, so turning it off reduces the possibility of your system being exploited in this way.

When you have trained people in IT for as long as I have, you soon learn that anything you can do to make things easy for them is a bonus. Not everyone knows their way around Windows or other software as well as you or I, for example, so little free programs like this make it simple and effective, saving a shitload of bother in the future.
