Dunno if anyone can help me but my 97 Bravo 1.6 has been making a pinking noise for some time now (starting to annoy me). I read in my haynes manual that the knock sensor could be out. On the 1.6 it is supposed to be bolted next to the oil filter on the front of the engine. Just had a look and there is just a hole! Nothing there but the hole it should be bolted in to. Does anyone know if it supposed to be not there on the 97 model or if I need to get one?

i have a '98 1.6 and had to have one fitted, it's a fiat only aprt and cost £180 including a diagnostic and fitting.

Mine was thinking the engine was pinking when it wasn't and was retarding the timing to compensate causing me a mass loss in power. I would have a diagnostic before splashing out on the part.

Yup, get a diagnostic done.

If your car HAS been pinking for some time it would have done some damage, its unlikely that its actual pinking though.
