Just had a rental car, thought i would do a quick review, what exotic piece of machinary have i been driving you ask? A Renult Modus DCi! woo...
What can i say about this car?
The outisde; nothing is in proportion, nothing strikes you as a nice feature, therewere no designers for this car! They seem to have used mostly second hand parts, meganecoupe rear lights, 307 handles which don't even blend into the bodywork and some screwed up scenic drawings.
The interior; the interior has been designed by an economist, it has a central digital display so that the same dash can be used regardless of left or right hand drive. Nothing is within reach and you feel like you are looking down on the dash. There are lots of cubbyholes, but what for? Why do you want a tupperware sized hole in the floor? Also, there are atleast 5 different colour of plastic, black, light grey, medium grey, dark grey and silver all sort of mashed together with no real coordination. The seats were comfortable but i really did feel like i was sat on it not in it. The back seats looked very short of legroom and the boot was smaller than a bravos. The rear seat may move, i didn't try it.
Onto the driving, awful! No real go from the diesel and 120km/h was over 3000rpm, remember this is a diesel, i honestly thought i was hurting it, i would hate a long journey at that sort of rpm. Visability was good, steering was light and the noise inside the car was good.
In summary, this is a car for someone eho sees driving and car owning as an expensive, unavoidable necessity. The build quality is fine, but a very uninspiring car.
