1.4 Mpg

1.4 Mpg

well, its a 1.4, so not really... however, you could be paying too much at the pump? i get about 125 miles from £15 in the 1.4 driving regular, and a little more on an MPG run.

oh dear!!

thats about right... maybe it should do a little more.. but its all down to how right pedal happy you are..... try making the car lighter... then it'll do more MPG!

My 1.4SX does about 125 miles on £12 petrol, but i tend to find the more i drive hard the more MPG i get!!!! Strange!!
Went to wales last year and i got 350ish miles
from a full tank!!

i think about 350 miles is my 1.4s record, but that was mostly dual-carriageway/m-way driving at 60odd mph

Im looking at about 70 miles to a tenner, thats with 17"s on, so i dunno if that adds to the pathetic performance!

they make a little difference, yeah.

In my case i'll get approx 180 miles from a full tank with local hard driving. Approx 300 miles when on motorway.

1.4 mpg

Does anyone know how to improve mpg anf no im not going on a diet or going at 10mpg

Yup average 180 miles, and i'm rarely in start stop traffic either!

Hence the reason i want to get a JTD when funds allow!

Had umpteen checks done on the car by umpteen people including fiat and they find nothing wrong with the car!

Take the head off and weld the odd valve in each cylinder.

Maybe then you'll get more MPG. Who knows?

Excellent idea! Why didn't i think of that?

I'll try it tomorrow, will a normal soldering iron do the job?

the 1.4 is very bad when driving around town doing short journeys,it does abit better when u do long distance and engine its properly warmed up etc but it is a poor engine for mpg

Eh, I have the same problem, but I'll tell in litres, about 12 litres per 100 km...
But, I installed a gas system (prophan butan) in car, so now I drive for the price of diesel or even cheaper...
The bottle for gas is in the trunk instead of a spare wheel.
The car goes like on regular petrol, and the same MPG but double cheaper... Idon't know do you have that possibilities in UK.... It's a good sloution, I paid 320 euro for installing gas...

LPG conversion! Only €320? Might consider doing that, LPG is only 38p a litre or something and more and more garages are installing LPG pumps.

Or buy a diesel and fill it up with red diesel.

Saves you the hassle of an LPG conversion, and if you get a 2.4 JTD Alfa, go and see Nige.

That way, even if the police see you filling up with red diesel, they're never going to catch you to check you out.

Oh, and invest in some new numberplates.
