Forgive me if anyone has already posted on this matter, but I was wondering what peoples opinions were on Gran Turismo 4 ?

I've been playing non stop since I bought it on the day of release and think it's the best yet. I have to say I was disappointed that the rumours of Ferraris being on there was not true and the compliment of Italian cars is ok but far from great. It has the obligatory FIAT Coupe & Barchetta plus a nice Punto Mk2 HGT Abarth and an original Cinquecento F, L & R. We already knew of the inclusion of the Panda Mk1 1000 F.I.R.E due to Polyphony sampling the audio from an FMCGB members car.

Lancia are represented reasonably well with three Delta's (S4, HF Integrale Evoluzione & HF Integrale Rally) plus road and rally versions of the Stratos.

Alfa have some nice but limited models represented: 147 TwinSpark & GTA, 155 2.5 V6 Ti Race Car, 156 2.5 V6, 166 2.5 V6, GTV 3.0 V6, Giulia Sprint Speciale & GTA 1600, Spider 1600 Duetto, Spider 3.0 V6 & Alfa GT.

My personal favourite, purely because it's so useless, is the Autobianchi A112 Abarth :)

As far as the game itself goes, it is the finest looking, the most comprehensive version yet and the inclusion of tracks like the original Nordschliefe Nurburgring and the Circuit de la Sarthe are works of art.

Pure racing pleasure :)

I'm only around the 10% mark. The drawbacks of having a demanding job and family :(

Shame its PS2 only, i could have imported my HGT into it if was xbox or PC :(

i didn't think it was that great. got toca 2 for the pc and i think that is better personally. i still find ps2 graphics poor and they detract from game play. Basically you cannot see what is happening in the distance. I've never liked the mushroom controls either, so i got a steering wheel, but i tried that once and went back to the mushrooms!

I agree it is very technically accurate but from a game point of view i think it's only average. Glad i didn't pay £40 for it as i can think of much better things to do withg that sort of cash

'Fraid I have to disagree quite loudly with the "PS2 graphics are poor" statement. Have you actually seen a PS2 game recently, especially GT4 ?? :)

And as far as longevity is concerned, I'm still trying to complete the older versions ! :)

Oh, and it only costs £30 in all good game shops and some rubbish ones too :)

IMO its crap. i bought a ps2 just for this. and i then rented the game. it really is crap. i see no difference to the others and the stupid licences just ruin the game

daz forza motorsport is out today for xbox ment to be xbox version of gt4 so we will see :S

i have spent a few hours on GT4 on a PS2 slim which has release 7000 or whatever they call it, supposed to be better than the normal PS2, then again bill gates said windows ME was going to be better than '98. lol

I agree with smee, GT4 is no different to any other racing game in my opinion, i agree that the tracks and cars are accurate and probably fairly realistic in their handling, seeing as i haven't driven 99% of the cars on there it's hard to comment ;)

Sorry but i think PS2 & PS graphics are poor, not just compared to Xbox or PC, but even compared to N64.

James Bond for the N64 was fantastic, certainly in the top 5 games ever released, but i find that for the PS2 it's just rubbish, you can't tell if your shooting at a person or a plant and the controls are going to take a bit of mastering. Give me a keyboard and mouse any day!
