On saturday I am changing my downpipe on my 1.2 bravo as the MOT is in a couple of weeks time and I have a hole in the flexi pipe part of the front downpipe.
I have sourced the parts 4 times cheaper than they are at fiat so its all good :)

just bought the 2 gaskets for 18 quid at fiat :s

What I'm wondering is, how does the sensor come out? is it pressure fitted or screwed in? if its the later, will I need a tool to remove it?
how tempramental is the sensor?
Any tips for removing the sensor/downpipe? tom?

Cheers all.

Spanner :)

It unscrews. They are quite tough things, they have to work while red hot so are not as fragile as some think.

The down pipe is held on by 3 nuts, they have a tendency to stick, so U may need to spray them with WD40 or similar 1. And U will need to go under the car.
The lambda sensor is usually screwed in, it also has a tendency to stick. If the lambda doesent come out easily, U will prob. need a flame welder to heat it up to unscrew it. I needed 1, but I didnt do it on a Bravo.

You'd need Smee working on it to ensure it never runs again ;)

Even if U break it, you car will run, but U will fail MOT exhaust gases and the car will have a higher MPG and loose power, especially when accelerating.

its alright, me and my mate matt are doing it and he's fitted a full system to his a3 1.8 turbo so I trust him to help me do it :)
Car will be jacked and then put on axle stands.

and Lee, I would get someone who knows what they are doing to bleed your brakes...do you want to be able to stop ;)

No, cats are furry and have tails ;)

Thats a flexy pipe, allows the engine to move without snapping the downpipe.

I think mine has split!

The car has no power, sounds rough and vibrates a lot on tick over!

yes, thats the flexi pipe.
thats what has a hole in mine mate. thats why I'm getting a new downpipe as its all one piece :)
